WHAT IS BROOMBALL ??? Broomball is played indoors on an ice hockey rink or outdoors on frozen ponds or lakes with rules very similar to Ice Hockey. Players wear special padded sponge rubber shoes, use a ball which is sized somewhere between a soccer ball and slow pitch softball, and use specially designed manufactured brooms which are made of wood or aluminum. The goal like hockey is to put the ball in the opposing net, a net which is larger than a hockey net but much smaller than an outdoor soccer goal. WHO CAN PLAY ??? Leagues are located all over the United States (and throughout the world as well) and players ages range from grammar school age to well over 70. HOW DO I GET MORE INFORMATION ??? | Welcome to Welton Cricket Club. Welton is a small village 10 miles West of Hull. Cricket has been played at Welton since the early 1800's. The Indian board named former chief selector Chandu Borde as cricket manager for the tours of Ireland and England on Tuesday. The board's decision-making working committee chose to go in for an interim arrangement as they had done for the recent tour of Bangladesh after Australian Greg Chappell resigned as coach following the World Cup debacle. South African Graham Ford declined the offer to coach the national team on Monday. Borde, 72, played 55 tests and has served as manager in the past. India play a three-match one-day series against South Africa in Ireland later this month before heading to England in July for three tests and seven one-dayers. The board is scheduled to hold a press conference later on Tuesday. Low ticket prices at this year's inaugural ICC World Twenty20 tournament are seen as key to bringing crowds back to International Cricket Council events, according to Cricket South Africa chief Gerald Majola. | |
